Here is a sports hall floor reseal that Peak Flooring carried out over the half term period at Highfields School in Letchworth, Hertfordshire. We were asked to change the basketball court markings to the new Fiba approved court lines. As we were adding new court lines and the Junckers flooring had been newly installed 3 years ago, we also recommended a reseal to the floor with 2 coats of Junckers HP Sport. This would protect any court markings that we had just painted on as well as the floor and also add grip to the whole sports playing surface.
To be able to change the basketball court markings without sanding the whole floor we suggested sanding off the parts of the lines that needed to be changed on the court (the 3 point D and the keys). Once we had sanded off these parts of the court we next applied Junckers Base prime to the bare wooden surface ready for lacquering later. As you can see from the image that you can’t really see where the old court markings were sanded off.
After we had cleaned and keyed the floor we then painted on the new regulation Fiba court markings and sealed the floor with 2 coats of Junckers HP Sport lacquer.
This sports floor should now not need resealing for the next few years and is ready for the continual use that sports halls receive on a daily basis.
