Here is a before and after of King John School theatre in Thundersley, Essex. As you can see from the before picture the parquet floor is heavily sealed with bourne seal (a floor sanders nightmare).
We had to start with 16 grit floor sanding belts to rip open the bourne seal that had been applied to the wood floor every year for 20 years. We then had to pass over the floor another 4 times with a 24 grit sanding belts followed by a 36 grit, 50 grit and 80 grit sanding belts, before finishing the floor to a 120 grit mesh with our bona buffer. the floor then had 1 coat of Junckers Prelak prime applied to it followed by 2 good coats of Junckers HP Commercial.
This school hall parquet floor is now looking 100 times brighter and as well as being completely level again. This is the second wooden floor we have refurbished and restored for King John School in Essex and we have set up a maintenance contract for their two floors to be resealed every summer holidays. Having their wooden flooring resealed every year is the best way to maintain their floors as well as making them last longer in between scheduled floor sanding projects.
